Manchester United have named a 26-member travelling squad for their crucial Europa League semi-final first leg clash against Athletic Club in Bilbao on Thursday.
In great news, both Amad and Matthijs de Ligt, who were part of the open training session on Wednesday, are making the trip to Spain (as announced by club media).
Whether they will be fit enough to take part in the game remains to be seen. Ruben Amorim will shed more light on their participation during the pre-match press conference later in the day which will be covered by The Peoples Person.
Quite a few Academy youngsters have also been selected like Tyler Fredricson, Jaydan Kamason, and Bendito Mantato, all of whom will be hoping to make their European debut for the club.
Interestingly, Chido Obi and Sekou Kone were also selected even though they are ineligible for the Europa League.
That is because a training session is due to take place in Bilbao on Friday morning as the club prepare for Sunday’s Premier League test against Brentford.
Amorim has already hinted that he might rest several key players for that particular encounter in preparation for the second leg due to be held at Old Trafford in a weeks’ time.
Andre Onana has been joined by both Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as part of the goalkeeping contingent.
Harry Amass is also part of the travelling squad and will be hoping for minutes given Diogo Dalot’s injury-enforced absence.
The Portugal international could be back for the Europa League final should United overcome the Basque side over two legs.
Amorim will be hoping his attackers can produce the goods against a defensively solid Athletic side, who have conceded the least number of goals in La Liga this season.
The Red Devils will have to be careful of the threat posed by the Williams brothers — Inaki and Nico, who have been in red-hot form this season.
