One of the main talking points heading into the final stage of the season for Real Madrid revolves around the future of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
It appears increasingly likely that the Italian will not remain on the bench next season, barring a major surprise.
Since the 2022 World Cup, Ancelotti has been targeted by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to take charge of the national team, and for a while this week, it seemed that the Selecao would finally secure his services.
However, a number of setbacks, triggered after the 65-year-old’s return from a trip to London on Tuesday, have slowed the process, with the deal now being on the brink of collapse.
It was believed that Ancelotti had flown to London after the Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona to meet with CBF officials and finalise an agreement for his move.
However, now, according to COPE, Ancelotti’s trip to London on Tuesday was for personal reasons and not related to any meeting with the Brazilian national team.
Furthermore, Real Madrid were aware of his travel plans and has no intention of standing in the way of his future decisions, just as the coach will not oppose the club due to his strong relationship with club president Florentino Perez.

Sources close to the Italian coach acknowledged that there have been issues during negotiations with Brazil, and no agreement has been signed. Amidst this, Saudi Arabia has long expressed interest in the legendary manager.
However, Ancelotti’s priorities remain clear, in the following order – Real Madrid, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia.
Indeed, the 65-year-old continues to give top priority to Los Blancos, but it is pretty much out of the question that he will continue.
As such, the role of Brazil national team coach continues to be the most likely option for the future of the Italian at this time, with talks still taking place in the background.
The CBF would like Ancelotti to take charge of the team in time for the June international window against Ecuador and Paraguay, but it is still unclear when exactly he would leave Real Madrid – particularly as the FIFA Club World Cup begins on 14 June.
What is certain is that no official announcements will be made by either party until the end of the season.
