Antony has rediscovered his best form since joining La Liga club Real Betis on loan from Manchester United in January.

He has bagged four goals and four assists in just 11 appearances. His performances have highlighted why United spent heavily to sign him from Ajax.

Despite his success, there is no purchase option in his loan deal, meaning he is set to return to United at the end of the season.

However, Antony has hinted that he does not plan to return, expressing his happiness with life in Spain.

Antony’s future remains uncertain

Manchester United paid £86.3 million for Antony, but he struggled to make an impact.

The club is now targeting new attacking players, which could further reduce his chances of regular minutes if he returns.

Speaking to DAZN, Antony reflected on his time at United and his current happiness at Betis.

“If they pay that kind of money for you, it’s because you have talent and quality,” Antony said. “Wherever I go, I’ll always speak highly of United.”

“I’m very grateful to the club and to Erik ten Hag for what we experienced together, for the titles, and for everything I’ve learned.

“I had difficult times there, but also very good ones. I think it prepared me to be here today, enjoying myself. My mind is here, and I’m very happy.

“I found myself – I needed to find myself and be happy. I needed my family to be happy, too.

“Every day that goes by, I see that it was the best decision I could have made. I’m enjoying the city, the club and everything.

“It reminds me a lot of Brazil because of the sun, the food, the people are also very happy. All of that is important for someone like me who is used to it.”

Staying at Real Betis could be Antony’s best option

With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Antony needs regular game time in a system that suits him.

The Premier League attracts intense scrutiny, particularly for high-profile signings. Playing in La Liga would allow him to develop in a more relaxed environment, away from the pressure of English media.

He could play a key role at Betis and help the team compete at a high level.

Antony may struggle for game time at United if new wingers join. A permanent move to Betis would be the right step for him.
