Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie, advancing 5-1 on aggregate and will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal.
When the Gunners missed an opportunity to take a 1-0 lead after Bukayo Saka missed his penalty kick, it seemed as though Los Blancos had luck on their side to overturn a 3-0 aggregate deficit. However, that wouldn’t be the case.
Saka would redeem himself scoring in the 65th minute to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead, but Real Madrid responded with a goal from Vinicius Jr. in the 67 the minute. However, the Spanish side wouldn’t score, and the Premier League would add another thanks to Gabriel Martinelli in the second-half stoppage time.

Thomas Partey picked up a yellow card in the match against Real Madrid, resulting in the veteran midfielder missing the first leg against PSG due to yellow card accumulation. Former Arsenal defender and BBC pundit Matthew Upson weighed in on the English side not having Partey for the first 90 minutes.
“Arsenal are sitting in a really strong position in this Champions League and what a tie to look forward to in the semifinal [against PSG],” Upson said (h/t BBC).
“That’s going to be some game. Both teams, the physicality and the level that they’ve got at the moment. It’s sad for Thomas Partey to pick up that silly yellow card five minutes before the end of the game. For him to miss the first leg is a real disappointment for him.”
