Up next for Arsenal is a Premier League trip to Everton on Saturday. With a big clash against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League looming, Mikel Arteta’s side will be keen to keep it simple and get the job done. The home side can be a tricky opponent, before Wednesday’s loss to Liverpool, David Moyes’ team had lost just once in their previous 10 matches. The reverse fixture ended 0–0, with Sean Dyche then in charge of the Toffees.
On Tuesday, Arsenal returned to Premier League action after the international break with a win at the Emirates against Fulham. Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka were on the scoresheet in their 2–1 London derby victory. The biggest positive for the Gunners was the return of Saka, who made his first appearance since December. However, it wasn’t all good news for Mikel Arteta’s side. There were a few setbacks in defense, with Gabriel and Jurrien Timber forced off due to injury.
The Spaniard had a relatively quiet game against Fulham. He made a good save from a Raul Jiménez effort and was unfortunate to concede after a deflection. He remains Arsenal’s number one and is expected to keep his place.
Jurrien Timber started on Tuesday despite returning from national team duty with an injury. However, he experienced further knee trouble during the match and was eventually replaced. Partey slotted in at right-back and is likely to start there again on Saturday.
The French international completed the most passes in the last match. With injuries mounting in defense, his presence will be crucial.
The defender hasn’t seen much game time this season but came on after Gabriel's injury against Fulham. He’s expected to start alongside Saliba.
The young talent has enjoyed a standout few weeks. With Calafiori still out and Lewis-Skelly in high spirits, he’s likely to keep his spot. He was the most fouled player in the Fulham game.
The Norwegian remains a key figure in Arteta’s system. His leadership and high pressing are essential to Arsenal’s rhythm.
With Partey shifting to right-back, Merino is expected to reprise his midfield role like he did last match. After a spell filling in as a makeshift striker, he returns to a more natural position.
The England international is a regular starter and will be key once again, especially with the defensive reshuffle. His experience will be vital at Goodison Park.
Although Bukayo Saka marked his return with a goal, Arsenal have a crucial midweek Champions League tie against Real Madrid. Saka may start on the bench, with Nwaneri handed a chance from the start.
Trossard stepped in as a striker after Merino dropped into midfield. With no senior strikers available and Merino likely to remain in midfield, the Belgian is expected to lead the line.
