Bayern Munich increase their lead at the top of the Bundesliga by collecting another 3 important points against an in-form Augsburg side. Musiala, Kane and Sané give Bayern the 3-1 victory after an early goal for Augsburg by Giannoulis.

The first half gave us exactly what we expected: Augsburg showed a compact and well structured defense and Bayern still tried to dominate the game.

Bayern were rarely able to get through Augsburg's deep lying defensive block and were predisposed to counter attacks from die Fuggerstädter. The first goal of the game came from the home team:

Captain Gouweleeuw acted quickly during a freekick for Augsburg, saw his teammate Giannoulis run in behind and played a long ball for the Greek, who put the ball in the back of the net with a powerful weak-foot shot - no chance for Bayern keeper Urbig.

Having in mind Augsburg's stellar defensive record in 2025 so far, many believed Bayern would have a hard time coming back into the game; Musiala however equalised quicker than Augsburg were hoping for, showing great composure in the box before his shot - half time in the WWK Arena at 1-1.

The 2nd half of the game started very promisingly: Augsburg tried their kick-off tactic from last week again this time and were only stopped by Kimmich near the edge of the 5-yard box.

After this dynamic start from Jess Thorup's side, Bayern got better into the game and started to create far better chances than in the first half: both Olise and Sané came close to scoring after great efforts.

Minute 53 brought a huge blow to all Bayern fans: star player Jamal Musiala seemingly overstretched his leg while pressing Augsburg keeper Finn Dahmen, resulting in him having to be substituted with an injury.

From the looks of it, this might mean Musiala won't make the Champions League game against Inter on Tuesday, but Bayern will release a diagnosis shortly, confirming or denying that fear.

Shortly after the injury, Augsburg defender Cedric Zesiger, who had played a solid game up to this point, lost the ball unnecessarily to Harry Kane near the halfway line with the English international then running towards Dahmen.

Zesiger brought down Kane and got his 2nd yellow and therefore red card in the match - Augsburg were down to 10 men in minute 58. The resulting freekick gave Bayern their 2nd goal of the game:

Harry Kane converted the smart freekick tactic in clinical fashion. From then on, neither Bayern nor Augsburg had many high profile chances. Only one player got his deserved reward in the end: Leroy Sané.

In the 93rd minute, the hardworking Sané got his 10th Bundesliga goal this season after a deflected shot. Bayern have now scored at least 3 goals in the last 6 games against Augsburg. Final result tonight: Bayern 3, Augsburg 1.

While Bayern increased the gap to Leverkusen to now 9 points (1 game more than Leverkusen), Augsburg stay in 8th place, 1 point above Dortmund for now.
