Barry Ferguson has done a decent job since being appointed as Rangers interim manager after Philippe Clement was sacked. He has won a Europa League knockout tie against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce to take the Ibrox club into the last 8 of the competition and then guided them to a 3-2 victory against Celtic in their own backyard.
That being said, it is hard to imagine that Ferguson will remain in the job beyond this season unless something unexpected happens. So, who will be the next Rangers manager?
Many expect Steven Gerrard to be brought back. He was the last one to win a league with the club. Rafa Benitez has been suggested as a possible option as well. But a big-name manager has now emerged as a possible suggestion for the Ibrox job as well.
Marco Rose was recently sacked by RB Leipzig. He had been with the club since the summer of 2022. And in the aftermath, he has been suggestion as an option for the Rangers.
Rose has had a decent bit of top-level experience for sure. He has managed RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and more over the course of his managerial career.
So, as the Rangers hope to catch Celtic, it is not hard to see why they might try to go for that level of a manager. Especially if their takeover goes through.
That being said, the Rangers have brought in and sacked a lot of managers in recent years, Never have they really been able to compete with Celtic on a consistent basis for long. It remains to be seen who they end up appointing next, if Ferguson is indeed shown the exit door. But whoever it is, the Hoops should be calm and confident.
