As the Celts look ahead to Saturday’s trip to Tannadice to face Dundee United, excitement is starting to grow about the possibility of clinching a fourth consecutive league title.

The Hoops have been relentless in their pursuit of another Scottish Premiership crown, and with the finish line now within touching distance, Callum McGregor says that preparations couldn’t have gone better ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Speaking to the media at the Celts’ Lennoxtown training base today, the Celtic skipper also reflected on the effort that he and his teammates have put in throughout the course of the campaign on their journey towards more success.

“We’re excited and we’ve prepared really well,” he said. “The boys trained well again today, so we have a really good opportunity to go and cross the finish line.

“That will be the culmination of all the hard work that we’ve put in since pre-season.

‘Once you get across the line, it makes everything worth it.’

“We understand where we are and what we need to give to the game to be successful.

“Hopefully we can do that and get over the line.”

Celtic’s road to success may look fairly straightforward, given that each year more and more silverware seems to make its way in to the Celtic Park trophy cabinet.

But as the Celts’ skipper explained today, there are always obstacles to overcome on the way to the top spot and, for Callum McGregor, it is those obstacles and challenges which make each title unique and special.

He said: “Every title is slightly different because every season has its challenges and you’ve got to find the solution as you go.

“You start pre-season with the idea of trying to win as much as you can and win every game.

“Throughout that there will be challenges and you have to bounce back and be strong as a group.

“Every one is special because for 10 or 11 months of the year, everything you do is about football and trying to be successful.

“So once you get across that it’s a really nice feeling that all your hard work has paid off.”

Standing between the Hoops and the confirmation of the league title on Saturday afternoon is Dundee United, who were able to hold the Celts to a goalless draw at Tannadice earlier in the season.

And ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Dundee, the Celtic skipper says that the Bhoys will have to be at their best to get the job done this weekend.

He added: “The players are focused and they know what needs to be done to get over the line. Dundee United will be a hard challenge for us.

“They gave us a good game up there the last time and the games at Celtic Park have been tough as well, so we have to be right on the money.

“We’re coming in to the game with good momentum so we’ll aim to produce more of the same and hopefully that’ll take us across the finish line.”
