Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest meet for the first time ever in the FA Cup tomorrow, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
Both teams have enjoyed strong seasons and will see this as a rare opportunity to push for silverware.
Brighton secured their spot in the last eight with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Newcastle United. Danny Welbeck settled the tie in extra time.
Nottingham Forest needed penalties to get past Ipswich Town after a six-goal thriller.
The Seagulls head into this clash on a seven-game unbeaten run, scoring at least twice in each match.
That streak started after a 7-0 thrashing by Forest in February – a result that remains a source of belief for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
Forest have had mixed results since that emphatic win but have done enough to stay firmly in the Premier League’s top four.
However, their away form remains a concern, as they have conceded at least twice in each of their last five road matches.
Despite this, Nuno is backing his side to rise to the occasion. “We love the cup,” he said. “We will give everything we can to achieve what our fans expect and desire.”
The visitors will be without Chris Wood after he sustained a hip injury on international duty, with Nuno waiting for further details on the extent of the problem.
Brighton have received positive news on the fitness front, with Lewis Dunk, Solly March and Matt O’Riley all expected to be available. Tariq Lamptey remains sidelined.
“We all know it is a big opportunity, but it is important that you do not make it artificially big,” he said.
“Forest are a top team, and we will try to prove how far we have come in our development.”
