Simone Inzaghi is regarded as one of the better coaches in Europe currently, but Sergio Conceicao schooled him, as AC Milan beat Inter 3-0.
Many expected Inter to bring Milan back down to earth on Wednesday night, and take their place in the Coppa Italia final. However, for the fifth time this season, the Rossoneri did not fall to the Nerazzurri’s hands.
Instead, it was the Diavolo who were the dominant force, putting three past their bitter rivals and securing a place in the final of the cup, to the surprise of many. Sergio Conceicao revealed that there was one message he gave to the team beforehand, whilst dedicating the win to the fans after a difficult season.
In his column for Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Fabio Capello hounded the Inter coach for his selections, even dubbing the Italian to be slightly arrogant with his team selection, as Football Italia write.
“Clear, decisive and thrilling, something we’ve rarely seen this season. Inzahgi’s team had chances to take the lead in the first half, but in the second half, Milan were confident, strong and determined.
“Inter vanished, as it happened on other occasions too. Many will talk about fatigue, but I think it’s more of a mental issue. I would not be surprised if the defending champions had lost a bit of touch with reality after beating Bayern Munich.
“I hope the win over Bayern Munich is not seen as a final destination, but as a starting point for something more important. I sense a bit of arrogance even in Inzaghi’s choices. He rotated in a derby that was almost like a Final. This time, it seemed that he underestimated the Coppa Italia a bit too much.”
