Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is inching ever closer to an imminent departure from the club.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The subject of Ancelotti’s future has of course returned to the fore in a major way over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after Real Madrid bid farewell to their best remaining shot at silverware for the season.

After making the trip to Seville for the finale of the Copa del Rey, Los Blancos were condemned to a devastating 3-2 extra-time defeat by arch rivals Barcelona.

As much, it is understood, proved the final nail in the coffin when it comes to Ancelotti’s stint on the Real Madrid bench, with the Italian requiring nothing short of a miracle to turn things around.

As per a report from Sky Sports, in fact, amid an ongoing pursuit on the part of the Brazilian FA, Ancelotti could be sent on his way by the Santiago Bernabéu brass ‘as soon as next week’:

‘Carlo Ancelotti is “very close” to becoming Brazil’s next manager.

‘A source has told Sky Sports News that talks will continue in May, with the Italian expected to leave Real Madrid as soon as next week.’
