Chelsea have been handed a massive boost in their bid to land Jamie Gittens, with the youngster looking to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

According to Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger, the talented English winger is growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s current direction and is looking to jump ship at the end of the season.

Gittens is considered one of Dortmund’s brightest prospects, but he’s now looking to take the next step in his career, with the fallen Bundesliga giants struggling to find their feet.

The 20-year-old isn’t short on potential suitors, with several clubs in the Premier League keeping a close eye on his situation at Signal Iduna Park.

Chelsea are known admirers, and Manchester United have sounded out an interest, but Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich are also monitoring Gittens.

However, the Premier League giants will fancy their chances of beating Bayern to the punch, with Gittens particularly keen to return to England.

He believes he can fulfil his potential on home soil, which could spark a bidding war between Chelsea and United.

Dortmund are hoping to pocket a huge fee if Gittens gets his wish.

They initially slapped a mouth-watering £86 million asking price on the youngster but will now consider bids of around £60m-£68m).

Those demands could be tweaked again if Dortmund qualify for the Champions League.

Der BVB are eighth in the Bundesliga but are just five points adrift of fourth-placed Mainz 05.

Gittens started the season firing on all cylinders, but his form has fallen off a cliff over the past couple of months.

Before scoring in the 4-1 thrashing of SC Freiburg over the weekend, Gittens had gone 16 games across all competitions without a goal.

His drop-off coincides with losing his spot in the starting line-up to Maximilian Beier since new manager Niko Kovac replaced Nuri Sahin.

However, his numbers are still decent for a 20-year-old, as he has bagged 12 goals and four assists in 42 games.
