‘Considering his next steps’: ‘Exceptional’ PL whiz mulls over summer exit after learning of United interest

Bournemouth chiefs are bracing themselves for an onslaught of clubs pursuing their most standout performers this summer.

The likes of Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen and Antoine Semenyo are all being heavily linked with moves away from the Vitality Stadium, while even Andoni Iraola is said to have been placed high on Daniel Levy’s shortlist of potential Ange Postecoglou successors at Tottenham Hotspur.

As for Manchester United’s potential involvement, they have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in sizing up a swoop for Semenyo (as per the Independent), who is currently enjoying his most prolific campaign in terms of goal contributions, having found the back of the net seven times and assisted five goals in 29 matches.

Semenyo, a 27-capped Ghanaian international, signed from Bristol City in a £10.5 million deal in January 2023. Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace to his signature that winter, but are likely growing more resigned to losing him with each stellar display.

Miguel Delaney’s report adds that the trio of Premier League giants will all be in the market for a wide forward when the window opens, and a proven, versatile option like the Cherries talisman poses as a relatively safe option – given how he’s fared over the course of 2024/2025.

Bournemouth are, however, hoping to make a substantial profit in the event Semenyo – hailed as an ‘exceptional’ talent by Steve McManaman – departs; they’ve set a price tag upwards of £50m to sanction his sale.

The player himself is also well aware of the interest he’s attracted in recent weeks, leading him to start ‘considering his next steps’.

Elsewhere, United were one of the sides also keen on signing Kerkez, but their January acquisition of full-back Patrick Dorgu has likely put that rumour to bed.
