Real Madrid are on the verge of securing yet another major signing as reports indicate that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to the Spanish giants is almost finalised.

According to the latest information provided by Sergio Lopez in AS, the transfer is considered to be 99% complete, with only a formal announcement remaining.

Over the past few seasons, Real Madrid have been focused on rejuvenating their squad with younger players who can form the backbone of the team for years to come.

Their current squad has an average age of 27, which reflects a balanced blend of experience and youth.

Keeping in line with this strategy, it is no surprise that they have set their sights on Alexander-Arnold, a player whose contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season.

Everything is agreed

Discussions between the player and Real Madrid have reportedly been concluded, with all contractual details already agreed upon.

The club has outlined the terms of his salary and the duration of his contract, ensuring a long-term commitment. The only thing left is for the player to officially part ways with Liverpool before sealing the move.

Liverpool, however, have not given up hope of retaining their star right-back. Despite knowing his desire to join Real Madrid, they are still attempting to convince him to extend his stay at Anfield.

In January, the club refused to entertain any offers, including a €15 million bid from Madrid, choosing instead to take the risk of losing him for free in the summer.

At this stage, everything depends on the player himself. Real Madrid have done their part, and unless Alexander-Arnold has a sudden change of heart, his move to the Santiago Bernabeu is all but certain.

With the deal virtually complete, it is only a matter of time before he is officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player.
