Matteo Darmian has won praise for his grit and defensive discipline in Inter Milan’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the 35-year-old for proving up to the task on a hugely demanding European night.
Matteo Darmian started at right-wingback for Inter Milan against Bayern Munich yesterday.
With Denzel Dumfries still sidelined by injury, the Italian international had a big job to do.
And Darmian had to play all ninety minutes, with little other option.

Bayern boasted a formidable left side of Leroy Sane and Josip Stanisic.
Therefore, Matteo Darmian had to be switched-on from the first minute to last defensively.
But the 35-year-old hardly put a foot wrong on the night. He held his position and dug in, even as the Bayern attacking onslaught put him under constant pressure.
Meanwhile, at the other end Darmian popped up when he had to.
The 35-year-old did show his ability to get forward. It was in fact his shot from inside the penalty area in the second half that forced Eric Dier to clear for a corner.
And from which Benjamin Pavard scored for Inter.
