It has been a frustrating season for Chelsea under the guidance of new head coach Enzo Maresca, but there has been some very positive signs too. One of those has definitely been the performances of their record-breaking signing Moises Caicedo’s performances in central midfield.
Maresca’s side were amongst the sides fighting for the Premier League title in the first-half of the season, but have since taken just 19 points from 13 games in 2025. That poor run of form has left the Blues sitting down in 6th place and currently an outsider for the UEFA Champions League spots, unless the Italian head coach can turn things around in the final six games.
Of course, there have been other standout performers like Cole Palmer and Marc Cucurella, but Caicedo’s consistency has arguably made him their most important player this season and now Chelsea face a race to secure his future, despite joining just two years ago…

Saudi clubs have already registered their firm interest in signing the 23-year-old midfielder in a mega-money move this summer. However, with his current contract set to run until June 2031, Chelsea are under no pressure at all to cave in to these propositions from Saudi.
Despite this, EP,L Index sources have confirmed that the London club are set to offer a new deal to the Ecuadorian midfielder nevertheless, to acknowledge his importance to the club.
We can reveal that the offer being prepared by the Chelsea hierarchy would see Caicedo earn a mouth-watering £200,000-per-week and subsequently shutting down any murmours of a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Earlier this week, EPL Index revealed that AFC Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has already opted against a move to Chelsea this summer – when his £50million release clause will become active.
We also reported that the Blues have joined the race to sign 19-year-old Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, in a move that could be worth around £40million.
But, Chelsea will be keen to get Caicedo’s new deal boxed off as a matter of priority, before jumping into the transfer market to strengthen their squad further.
