Barcelona’s resounding 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the quarterfinals has led many to believe that the Catalans may easily waltz their way into the UCL final this season.
However, former Milan midfielder Zvonimir Boban believes an ideal antidote to Barcelona in the Champions League this season could be Inter Milan, their potential semifinal opponent.
In a recent interaction at Sky Sports, Boban talked about Barcelona’s win and pointed out they could have easily conceded at least three goals if they were facing Inter Milan instead of Dortmund.
“If Inter had played at Montjuic instead of Dortmund, they would have scored at least three goals,” he said on Sky Sport (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Explaining his statement, Boban pointed out the way Inter Milan play, adding, “I see that clearly because of the way Inter plays and exploits spaces.”

Inter Milan are indeed adept at taking advantage of opposition spaces, thanks to their sharp attack that is led by Lautaro Martinez.
This was evident last night when the Nerazzurri scored two goals to secure a 2-1 advantage against Bayern Munich in the first leg.
“I think Inter can do a lot of damage to Barça. They would have scored two or three goals in that match. Perhaps Barça would have scored three goals too, but Inter would have taken a magnificent result for the second leg,” Boban said.
“If both teams end up passing and Barça plays so attackingly, Inter can do a lot of damage. If they continue to play so far forward and leave space, Inter can usually be a very powerful team in that regard,” he added.
Finally, Boban claimed that Barcelona will be more cautious if they face Inter Milan in the semifinals.
“I think if they end up facing each other, Barça will be much more cautious and will defend differently than they did against Borussia Dortmund,” he concluded.
