Juventus have confirmed a fibula fracture for their defender Federico Gatti: here’s how many games he’ll miss and how new Bianconeri coach Igor Tudor could replace the Italy international.

Juventus have lost their defender Federico Gatti for at least one month following a “compound fracture to the diaphysis of the fibula,” the Bianconeri said on Monday.

Gatti has been a regular Juventus starter this season, having made 40 appearances across all competitions and playing over 3,200 minutes of football.

The Italian defender was forced off the pitch early in the first half of Saturday’s Serie A match against Genoa.

Several sources in Italy, including Calciomercato.com, suggest Gatti will remain out of action for at least one month, surely missing games against Roma, Lecce, Parma and Monza.

Juventus coach Tudor is worryingly short of options in defence as Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are already out until the end of the season due to knee injuries.

This means Pierre Kalulu, Renato Veiga and Lloyd Kelly will likely be the picks for Tudor’s three-man defence in the coming games.

However, the Croatian tactician has another option. Manuel Locatelli has previously played in central defence, so the Italian midfielder could drop back in some games and start in the Old Lady’s backline.

Juventus sit 5th in the Serie A table, one point below fourth-placed Bologna.
