The FC Barcelona squad is blessed with a number of world-class young talents, with Lamine Yamal emerging as the flag-bearer of them all. It is sometimes easy to forget that the Spaniard is still just 17 years old.

Lamine has played 46 times across all competitions so far this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 22 assists. These are frankly ridiculous numbers even for a 27-year-old winger, and Barcelona are lucky to have this player who is able to do it at 17.

Compliments have been flying in from all directions for the teenager’s performances, and understandably so! Not many players at this age have had the kind of impact that Lamine has had, and it bodes well that he seems to be showing no signs of slowing down.

The latest player to join the Lamine Yamal hype train is Como midfield star Nico Paz, who came through the Real Madrid youth ranks. The 20-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists in 30 matches across all competitions.

In a recent interview, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the 2-cap Argentinian international named Lamine Yamal as one of the players he would love to play with at some point. Here is what he said:

“If I could choose which player I’d like to play with? I’ve already had the fortune of playing for Real Madrid, the best club in the world, and of doing so alongside players like Vinicius and Bellingham. If I had to name someone else right now, I’d say Lamine Yamal—he’s one of the best in the world.”

Getting ‘best in the world’ claims at just 17 is almost unheard of, and it feels good to see young talents from other clubs talk so highly of a player who is our very own. It is yet another indication that La Masia is the biggest talent-producing factory in the world.

Paz would have had the opportunity to play with Lamine for the national team had he chosen to represent Spain, but the midfielder has chosen to represent Argentina, where he gets the chance to play with the greatest ever to have played the game – Lionel Messi.

It remains to be seen if the two players’ paths cross at any point in the future, although it seems quite unlikely for that to happen, considering Paz’s Real Madrid history and potential future and Lamine’s Barcelona allegiances. Let’s wait and see how it plays out in the future.
