Inter are out of the UEFA Youth League after missing a penalty in the 1-0 quarter-final defeat to Trabzonspor.
The Nerazzurri had hoped to go all the way in the tournament, which is the youth equivalent of the Champions League.
They were missing some big players for this one-off match in Turkey, as Gabriele Re Cecconi was suspended, with Mike Aidoo and Thomas Berenbruch staying behind to be part of the senior squad in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan.
Inter had the perfect opportunity to open the scoring on 39 minutes when Matteo Cocchi went down inside the penalty area after a coming together with Oguzhan Yilmaz.

However, Luka Topalovic saw his spot-kick parried by goalkeeper Erol Can Colak’s outstretched boot.
It was his second penalty miss of the tournament, after also failing against Bayern Munich.
Trabzonspor pushed harder after the break, Alessandro Calligaris parrying the Boran Baskan strike, but Inter were still wasteful with Gabriele Garonetti blasting well wide one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
The game was decided at the 77th minute when substitute Ekrem Terzi pounced on a defensive error and his shot was deflected in off Christos Alexiou.
Trabzonspor will face RB Salzburg in the semi-final.
