Simone Inzaghi says that it would be “too easy to blame refereeing errors” after Inter Milan fell to yet another Serie A loss against Roma.

The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews. He also made clear that the team needs “everything” against Barcelona and beyond.

Inter Milan fell to a third straight loss across all competitions against Roma this evening.

It was not a good enough performance from the Nerazzurri in the Serie A clash. Particularly in the first half.

However, in the second half as Inter pushed for a goal, there was one particular flashpoint incident.

Inter Yann Bisseck had looked to turn in a header from teammate Marko Arnautovic.

However, Roma defender Evan Ndicka, who was the wrong side of Bisseck, grabbed the German with both arms, appearing to drag him back.

Bisseck appealed for a foul adamantly. As did the 24-year-old’s Nerazzurri teammates.

However, referee Michael Fabbri did not view it as a penalty. And the VAR did not intervene to tell the on-field referee to have another look at the incident.

Had Inter been awarded the penalty, it certainly would have been a lifeline that would have allowed them to salvage something.

However, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi was not in the mood to focus on the officiating.

“It would be too easy to talk about that,” he said.

“We have to focus on why the match went the way it did beyond that.”

Inzaghi admitted that “in the first half we didn’t play the way we’re used to.”

“We didn’t press enough, and left big gaps. And we paid the price.”

“The goal was a bit of an unfortunate moment. But Roma played a great match.”

Simone Inzaghi noted that “in the second hafl we gave everything we had to try and equalize.”

“And I think our fans understood that,” the Inter coach continued.

“The applause from them at the end was nice. But it doesn’t make us forget this bad loss.”

“There are still matches left to play. And now we’ll have to think about the next one in Barcelona.”

As far as what the team need to do against Barcelona, Inzaghi said that “we need everything.”

“Rest, recovery. It’s not the right thing to talk about what should have been or wasn’t. We knew what the fixture list would be, and we wanted it.”

The Inter coach declared that “the players will always have my gratitude, because they’re giving everything.”
