Liga MX 2025 is heading to its final phase with the playoffs right around the corner.
Over the next month, we'll learn of the latest champions of Mexico, but in the background, teams, players and agents will be negotiating domestic and international moves.
Here are some of the biggest moves involving the Liga MX right now:
Monterrey v Tijuana - Torneo Clausura 2025 Liga MX | Azael Rodriguez/GettyImages
We start with some groundbreaking news coming out of Monterrey, as Sergio Canales is ready to leave Los Rayados after two seasons with the club. Reports suggest the 34-year-old fell out with Martín Demichelis and is ready to ditch the north for Mexico's capital. The former Real Madrid playmaker has 12 goal contributions for the club in the Clausura and played a crucial role in guiding the side to the Apertura final, where they eventually fell to Club América. Cruz Azul elevated their game this season to become one of the strongest sides in Liga MX. Topping the combined Apertura and Clausura regular season tables, La Máquina are searching for a first league title since 2021 and are competing in the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final against Tigres. Would this be a good move for Canales?
Ajax U23 v PSV U23 - Dutch Keuken Kampioen Divisie | Soccrates Images/GettyImages
This US youth international rose through the ranks at PSV and is out of contract this summer. Despite being born in Phoenix, Arizona, Ledesma has Mexican roots and has obtained a passport, making him eligible to join Chivas, considering their 'Mexican-only' policy. The midfielder made his debut for the Eindhoven club in 2020, but a ruptured ACL delayed his development, meaning that this is his first full season as a regular in the Eredivisie. Recent stories have said that Chivas are very excited about the prospect of luring the 24-year-old to the club, even going as far as to say they are ready to pull out all of the stops for his signature. Is Richard Ledesma the man to turn the sinking ship in Guadalajara?

Erik Lira is one of a few young Mexicans to be attracting attention from 'the old continent' with the likes of OGC Nice, AZ Alkmaar and FC Porto all reportedly excited. Our prediction at Viva Liga MX is that the Portugese outfit are the frontrunners for his signature given his ties with former Máquina manager who is now at the helm with Porto. A move to AZ Alkmaar could also be an appetising move for the young central midfielder given the vast amount of Mexican players that have previously moved to the Netherlands to propel their careers in Europe.Where is Erik Lira heading this summer?
Real Madrid v CF Pachuca - FIFA Intercontinental Cup | Eurasia Sport Images/GettyImages
Elias Montiel has had a breakout season in Hidalgo, demanding global attention after a stellar performance at the FIFA Club World Cup, where Pachuca finished as runners up to Real Madrid.A player who can slot into any position in the middle of the pitch, the 19-year-old has a high ceiling, and teams are starting to catch on.Ajax recently renewed their development program with Pachuca and could be in the steering seat for his signature. The Amsterdam club has previously been home to the likes of Edson Álvarez and Jorge Sánchez, the 4 times UEFA Champions League winners are familiar with bringing Mexicans to the club, and with the club and manager Francesco Farioli-alike favouring young talent, this could be a move that benefits all parties. Is Elias Montial the next Mexican to take Europe by storm?
Toluca v Cruz Azul - Torneo Clausura 2025 Liga MX | Manuel Velasquez/GettyImages
No story is bigger than this right now in Mexico. Former Chivas star heading to Club América, Alexis Vega could soon be doing the unthinkable. Toluca led the Clausura regular season table and head into the playoffs as favourites to win it all. Outscoring the rest of the league, Alexis Vega has been a focal point for Los Rojos Diablos, who have dominated the league since the turn of the year. Whilst links to Europe float in the background, none are lingering more than the prospect of him switching one half of the Clásico de los Clásico for the other.América are currently on a streak of three straight Liga MX titles and qualified in second place to chase a fourth consecutive piece of silverware. The deal makes sense for Mexico's record champions with André Jardine in search of a revamped attacking lineup. Concerns grew when ageing Henry Martín was sidelined for a long period of time, whilst many will be aware that winger Javairo Dilrosun's loan deal from Feyenoord is soon coming to an end.
