Leeds United need to utilise Largie Ramazani and Wilfried Gnonto to edge the promotion race.

Just a few weeks ago, you would have been hard-pushed to see past Leeds United for the Championship title.

The Whites had just achieved back-to-back comeback victories over Sunderland and Sheffield United, solidifying their position at the top of the league with a seven-point lead over Burnley in third place.

However, since their 3-1 victory over the Blades, they have allowed their promotion rivals to claw their way back into contention, with Daniel Farke's side collecting just five points from the last 12 available.

Draws against West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers were compounded by a defeat to relegation-threatened Portsmouth, and while they did manage to overcome Millwall, it is fair to say they have not been at their best.

With the international break arriving at a timely juncture, Farke now has two weeks to regroup, assess his side’s faltering form, and ensure they do not surrender more crucial points.

It could also provide an opportunity for Largie Ramazani and Wilfried Gnonto to work their way back into the fold, having been on the fringes since the turn of the year.

Daniel Farke needs to switch up his attacking options

Since the start of 2025, Farke has remained steadfast in his attacking front four, with Daniel James, Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon, and Joel Piroe featuring in every starting lineup in the league since New Year's Day.

For the first two months, everything clicked into place, with the wingers delivering week in, week out. But as February rolled into March, their momentum has stalled, and the once-fluent attacking quartet has mustered just a single goal contribution since the month began.

Fatigue could well be a factor, and while a free weekend will offer Piroe and Aaronson a chance to recharge, James and Solomon will be away on international duty, facing the prospect of two games in quick succession before returning to club action.

Their return should see at least two of the trio behind Piroe drop to the bench, opening the door for Gnonto and Ramazani to stake their claim and inject fresh energy into the side.

Neither have started a league fixture since their 1-0 victory over Derby County on the 29th of December. Though their impact from the bench has been limited, it's difficult to make a mark with so little time on the pitch, and giving them a chance in the starting XI could be key to reigniting Leeds' promotion push.

Gnonto and Ramazani could be the key to promotion

For attackers, it’s never easy – when those ahead of you are in form and consistently finding the back of the net, the manager has little choice but to keep faith in them. However, in recent weeks, the goals have dried up, and now is the time for Farke to turn to both Gnonto and Ramazani.

The upcoming fixture against Swansea City presents the perfect opportunity for Gnonto to step in just behind Piroe, replacing the goal-stricken Aaronson. The Italian boasts a strong footballing pedigree, and while the last two seasons haven’t quite gone to plan, delivering in the final eight games of the campaign would show Leeds supporters exactly why the club invested £3.8 million in him at just 18 years old.

Meanwhile, Ramazani has the versatility to feature on either side, but his best performances this season have come off the left wing. In fact, when starting on that side, his record stands at three goals and one assist in seven appearances.

The pair must be given more faith, and if they can recapture the form they showed earlier in the season, the Whites will soon be back to picking up vital wins.
