Manchester United’s reported transfer interest in RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons has seemingly been confirmed.
The Netherlands international has shown himself to be a superb young talent in recent times, and it’s not surprising that we’ve heard plenty of speculation about possible big moves.
Man Utd are one of the names to have been thrown into the mix, and the reliable Ben Jacobs has confirmed that they’re keen on him.
However, writing for TEAMtalk, Jacobs explained that Simons won’t be an easy target for United as he’s likely to be too expensive.
Leipzig will surely ask for huge money to let Simons go, and that could be difficult for the Red Devils during a period of financial uncertainty.

According to Jacobs, “Leipzig will expect significantly more than the fixed €50m” that they paid to sign Simons in the first place, so it might not be realistic to see him making the move to Old Trafford.
One imagines Simons will have other options, but it’s a blow for MUFC as they could really do with injecting some quality into their attack.
Bruno Fernandes is Ruben Amorim’s stand-out attacking player, and Simons could be useful to take the pressure off the Portuguese maestro.
The 21-year-old can also play out wide and in a variety of attacking roles, so could help United replace misfits and flops like Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho.
Fichajes have recently linked Simons with Liverpool as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement, and it would be a big blow for United if he were to end up at one of their biggest rivals.
It will be interesting to see if United turn to other alternatives in the attacking midfield department in the weeks and months ahead.
