Mats Hummels recounted in an interview with German media about his move to Roma.

In the interview, Hummels touched upon his struggles in settling into the team as well as Ranieri’s impact since his appointment in November.

“I wanted to live a new experience and it’s what happened,” he said. “It’s what I wanted.”

“Rome and Italy attracted me since I was little. I had already been to Rome a couple of times, so I knew the beauties of the city.”

“I like to discover new cultures,” he added. “The way things started for me on the pitch, however, could not have been worse,” he remarked about his first four months in the capital.

“Football in Serie A is different from the Bundesliga. It’s very man-to-man and all over the pitch,” he said.

“Ranieri? He has a natural authority, he is spontaneous, polite but makes himself heard when necessary.”

“The fans? They’re so special,” he added.
