Dan Burn: Newcastle's Player of the Month for March 2025

Dan Burn, the Blyth-born defender had what he described as “the best month of his career.” Burn’s towering header in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool ended Newcastle’s 56-year trophy drought, making him a hero at Wembley. His efforts didn’t stop there—Burn also earned his first England cap during a World Cup qualifier against Albania.

Speaking after receiving the Sela Player of the Month award, Burn said (via Newcastle United Official):

"This award being voted for by fans definitely makes it a bit more special. I got a couple of these when I first arrived at the club, but it's been a while. I must be doing something right to receive recognition from the fans and I want to say 'thank you' to them for the support."Dan Burn

Burn’s journey mirrors Newcastle’s rise. He's become an important part of Eddie Howe's defence since being bought from Brighton for £13 million in 2022. March’s trophy win and Champions League push have rekindled belief on Tyneside. His award underscores his pivotal role in this transformation.

With Newcastle eyeing a top-four finish, Burn’s focus remains sharp: "I think we've now just got to aim for a Champions League spot; we've got a squad that is more than capable enough. It's going to be hard as there are a lot of teams around us on similar points. Historically, we've been pretty good from March onward over the past few seasons, so hopefully it will be more of the same."
