OFFICIAL I Juventus part ways with Thiago Motta

Juventus have announced the decision to sack Thiago Motta, only a few months after having appointed him in the summer.

The decision doesn’t particularly come across as a shock, given the club’s performances of late and the rumours going around. That being said, it was expected that it was going to be a long term project that they wanted to go in with him and clearly that has not been the case. In the 42 games that he managed for the club, Motta won 18, drew 16 and lost 8, averaging 1.7 points per game. Juventus however are out of the Champions League and the Coppa Italia as well. There was rumours of Motta having lost the dressing room too, but things just reportedly became irreparable, following the last two games before the international break which saw Juve lose 3-0 and 4-0 to Fiorentina and Atalanta respectively. Igor Tudor and Roberto Mancini were the two names which were discussed as replacements but it seems that the Bianconeri are going with the former. Tudor has managed in Serie A before with Lazio, Hellas Verona and Udinese and it is expected that he will take on the role on an interim contract till the end of the season. The goal remains qualification to the Champions League, given the Old Lady are currently 5th. If that is achieved, talks over a permanent position will take place.
