A win against Tottenham on Sunday or Crystal Palace taking maximum points off challengers Arsenal in midweek will see Arne Slot's side crowned champions.

The Reds' procession-like march to the crown has been in stark contrast to the years of near misses they endured during Jürgen Klopp's time at the helm.

Under the German, just one title made its way into the Anfield trophy cabinet although not through a lack of trying as events in the 2018/19 season proved.

It was six years ago today that Liverpool reasserted their lead at the summit with a 2-0 win over Cardiff City that put them ahead of Manchester City in the title race.

Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner both scored in the Welsh capital, with the latter dispatching from the penalty spot after a foul on Mohamed Salah.

It proved to be a false dawn as Pep Guardiola's side went on to pip their North West counterparts by a point with both teams finishing on 97 and 98 points respectively.
