Here are the 10 sides in our updated Power Rankings table.
Manchester City make their return to the Power Rankings table after a big week for the Blues. Pep Guardiola’s side were not overly convincing, but late goals earned wins against Everton and Aston Villa to see City climb to third in the Premier League.
In a fascinatingly close battle for Champions League qualification, those precious points have put City in control of their fate.
Next up is an FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest, as City look to salvage their season with silverware.
Newcastle remain ninth in our Power Rankings after the club’s impressive winning run was emphatically ended at the weekend. The Magpies had won six straight games to surge into our Power Rankings but were on the wrong end of a 4-1 thumping at Aston Villa.
Eddie Howe’s recent return from his hospitalisation due to pneumonia offers encouragement for the upcoming schedule.
Bayern Munich issued the perfect response to their European exit with a 4-0 thrashing of Heidenheim to move within touching distance of the Bundesliga title.
Harry Kane broke the deadlock to kickstart the rout, which opened up an eight-point lead for the table-toppers after Bayer Leverkusen drew with St Pauli. Five points from their final four games will be enough for Bayern to reclaim the German throne.
A mixed week for Aston Villa, who faced off in two Champions League qualification six-pointers.
Unai Emery’s side produced a scintillating showing to thrash Newcastle at the weekend but struggled to recapture that intensity in midweek. A late, late goal from Matheus Nunes condemned Villa to defeat at Manchester City and leaves The Villans with work to do in the run-in.
Arsenal’s full focus is on next week’s Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain and their league form has stuttered as a result.
After easing past Ipswich Town at the weekend, the Gunners were held at home in midweek. Crystal Palace earned a point at the Emirates despite twice trailing, a result that could prove costly. Arsenal still need six points to be sure of a place in the Champions League next season – ahead of a testing run of games.
A bad week for Inter, whose treble dream came crashing to an emphatic end.
Riccardo Orsolini’s 94th-minute winner saw Inter lose at Bologna in Serie A, a result that allowed Napoli to move level on points with the league leaders.
Then, Inter’s poor recent record continued in The Derby della Madonnina. It’s five without a win against AC Milan, who thrashed their city rivals 3-0 in their Coppa Italia semi-final second leg.
Inter’s treble dream is over but there’s still plenty to play for. Can Simeone Inzaghi’s side hold their nerve?
Two crucial wins have kept alive Real Madrid’s hopes of salvaging their season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are out of Europe but there’s still a domestic double to chase. The issue, however, is the gap to Barcelona. Real ensured they remained within four points of the La Liga leaders after 1-0 wins over Athletic Bilbao and Getafe.
The next three games will determine their season: Barcelona (Copa del Rey final), Celta Vigo, Barcelona.
Liverpool are so close.
The inevitable coronation for Arne Slot’s side could take place this weekend, with Liverpool needing just a point to be sure of the Premier League title. The Reds have had to dig deep in recent weeks with a tired team just edging past West Ham and Leicester.
One more result will be enough.
Paris Saint-Germain slip from the summit in our Power Rankings after dropping points in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
It matters little, however, with the title already wrapped up. PSG are just four games from completing the first-ever unbeaten Ligue 1 season, though the primary focus is on Europe.
Nantes are next up before an enormous Champions League semi-final with Arsenal. Two teams chasing a maiden European crown go head-to-head in the last four.
Barcelona reclaim the top spot in the Power Rankings table after moving ever closer to treble success.
Hansi Flick’s side recovered from 3-1 down, with just 25 minutes to play, to beat Celta Vigo in a thriller at the weekend, as Raphinha’s 98th-minute penalty secured a vital win. Dani Olmo was then the hero of the hour against Mallorca, to secure a 1-0 win that keeps Barcelona’s healthy cushion in the title race.
The dream of Los Cules is closer to reality ahead of some huge games on the horizon.
