The name of defender Rüdiger has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of the last couple of days.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the German international was under investigation on the part of UEFA.

As per Marca, as much came owing to his actions in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s Champions League Last-16 victory over Atlético Madrid.

All of Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr, Dani Ceballos also saw their behaviour looked into, but it was Rüdiger whose case was the most serious, owing to the fact that his actions were deemed as ‘threatening’.

Real Madrid were therefore forced to face up to the real possibility of a leading member of the club’s backline being suspended for their upcoming clash with Arsenal.

As alluded to above, all of a Blancos persuasion can on Friday breathe a sigh of relief.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Toni Rüdiger and the other Real Madrid players will be available to play vs Arsenal. UEFA won’t ban them as they have fined Rüdiger for €40,000.’
