Real Madrid superstar’s renewal on track; player’s agent spotted at club | OneFootball

While most of the recent speculation at Real Madrid has focused on the future of head coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Spanish giants are now turning their attention to securing key player contracts as the season progresses.

One of those is Vinicius Jr., whose renewal had been uncertain due to lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.

Renewal on track

According to Manu Carreno on El Larguero, although Saudi investors made big-money proposals, Vinicius was not keen on the long-term nature of the contracts being offered – a minimum of five years.

The Saudis were unwilling to commit to such a large financial outlay unless the Brazilian committed to spending several seasons in the country.

Negotiations had stalled over this issue, even though, as reported that at least €1 billion was on the table over a five-year deal.

However, Carreno now reports that talks between Vinicius and Real Madrid are progressing well, with the attacking superstar closer to signing a new two or three-year contract with the club.

“What I am hearing is that the renewal is on the right track, and at this moment, I believe Vinicius is closer to signing a new two- or three-year deal than leaving for Saudi Arabia,” Carreno stated.

He added that the major sticking point remains the length of the proposed Saudi contract: “The Saudis want five years, but Vini and his camp do not, which is why talks with Madrid continue.”

Adding to the speculation, El Chiringuito TV today reported that Vinicius’s agent was recently seen leaving Real Madrid’s offices.

The Brazilian superstar’s representative did not make any public statements about the Brazilian’s future, but his presence suggests that negotiations are active and ongoing.

Vinicius has come under a spate of criticism after his recent performances for Real Madrid. But the club still have faith in him as suggested by the progress being made in renewal talks.
