Borussia Dortmund are considering signing Carney Chukwuemeka on a permanent deal from Chelsea in the summer according to reports.
Chukwuemeka joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in January after hardly featuring for the Blues over the first half of the season.
The 21-year-old has been plagued by injury issues since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa for £20m in 2022, but he scored his first goal for Dortmund last weekend.
Chukwuemkea has had injury problems in Germany, but started his first Bundesliga game in the win against Freiburg last weekend.
The midfielder has a release clause of £40m in his contract, and it seems clear his career at Stamford Bridge is over, but it had been previously reported Dortmund weren’t going to activate their buy option.

However, German publication Kicker have reported Dortmund are considering making his loan permanent by activating the €30m buy option.
Chukwuemeka made just one start in the first half of the season against Astana in the Conference League, but it’s clear he has plenty of ability.
Dortmund boss Nico Kovac labelled the midfielder as “really unique” and when he has played for Chelsea he has showcased his obvious ability.
There could be a lot of business between Chelsea and Dortmund this summer with the Blues interested in winger Jamie Gittens.
There have also been reports suggesting Dortmund are keen on Sancho to replace Gittens which raises the potential of a possible swap deal.

For Chukwuemeka the end of the season is crucial in terms of trying to convince Dortmund to sign him permanently or to bring other suitors to the table.
The Blues will want Chukwuemeka to do well so it increases their chances of having his £40m release clause activated, with that money likely to help fund a move for a new striker.
