Southampton are reportedly considering an ambitious transfer agreement with West Ham involving Aaron Ramsdale.
Southampton are eyeing up a summer move for West Ham United's Luis Guilherme, which could include a swap deal involving goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
That's according to journalist Alan Nixon reporting via Patreon on Easter Sunday.
The 19-year-old joined the Hammers in the summer of 2024, featuring 11 times for his new club in the Premier League so far this season. Guilherme reportedly set the London club back around £25m when he arrived from Palmeiras.
Nixon reports that the Brazilian hotshot is now on the radar of relegated Southampton, as they gear up for their return to the Championship.
The Saints are currently managerless and managed to equal Derby County's record of the lowest points tally in Premier League history, ironically with a draw against West Ham on Saturday, but the focus remains on next season now they're officially relegated from the top flight.
With promotion likely the aim next season, the Hampshire side have reportedly identified the Hammers' Brazilian starlet as a transfer target this summer.
The 2024/25 campaign has been an absolutely miserable one for Southampton, as they've mustered a joint-record low points tally in the Premier League so far this term.
However, the Saints will be looking to heal the wounds of this campaign with a successful one in the second tier next season.
Nixon has reported that the relegated side are planning to bounce back with a bang on the transfer front too, and are already in search of fresh blood as they expect to lose a few of their current players.
This has seen Guilherme reportedly identified as a potential target for Southampton ahead of next season. The winger arrived at the London Stadium last summer, but has struggled to find minutes consistently.
The journalist has suggested that the Hampshire-based outfit could explore a loan move with a view to a permanent deal, or a potential swap deal involving goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The Saints shot-stopper is already being heavily linked with a Premier League move following his club's relegation to the second tier, and Southampton could look to use this to their advantage in a swap deal.
As is well documented by now, Ramsdale has a relegation release clause in his Saints contract reportedly worth £25m.
Now the Premier League's bottom club are officially down, clubs have begun to circle around the man with five England caps to his name.
As per reports by The Times, West Ham are already one of those clubs interested in bringing the former Arsenal goalkeeper back to the capital, and Southampton could use that to their advantage.
Of course, if the Hammers meet the £25m fee required to trigger his release clause, the Hampshire side is powerless to counter this. However, if they move fast, they could offer Ramsdale as part of a swap deal for one of their top targets in Guilherme, as Nixon suggested.
This could be very smart business from the Saints, as they could secure one of their priority targets this summer, by using a player who is looking very likely to leave the club in a deal, following their relegation to the Championship.
