Yesterday’s frenetic 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich encapsulated “the history of Inter Milan in ninety minutes.”
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They hail the dramatic night in which the Nerazzurri had to suffer and do it the hard way.
Inter Milan were not perfect in yesterday’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Bayern.
The Nerazzurri had a lead to protect from the first leg. And in the first half, they were perhaps too passive as they aimed to keep the match at a simmering tempo.
Bayern Made Inter pay for that early in the second half, with Harry Kane scoring to put the tie level on aggregate.
But that seemed to wake up the Inter team who were just waiting for another memorable European night.

Rousing after the shock of Kane’s goal, Inter immediately played the most attacking football they had since the start of the match.
And the Nerazzurri found their reward quickly.
Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard from corner kicks established a firm advantage for Inter.
And from then on, it seemed as though the Nerazzurri would simply see out their lead.
However, it wouldn’t be “Pazza Inter” without a little unnecessary drama.
Just when Bayern seemed to be losing some belief, a looping Eric Dier header sailed over Inter keeper Yann Sommer but under the crossbar, the wind seemingly aiding its trajectory.
That put Bayern back to where they were at the start of the match. Within one goal of forcing extra time.
And this put the wind right back into the German giants’ sails.
Inter had to really dig in to defend against an late onslaught.
There were decent chances for Bayern. And it was one long heart-in-mouth moment for Inter from Dier’s goal going in all the way to the final whistle.
But see it out the Nerazzurri did.
Inter booked their place in the semifinals of the competition against Bayern Munich next month.
And for the Nerazzurri, it will feel like an echo of the teams from Helenio Herrera all the way to Jose Mourinho in Europe.
