TMW: Furlani ‘not convinced’ by Tare despite new meetings – the idea in mind

Igli Tare seems the most likely sporting director to arrive at AC Milan, simply due to the variables. However, he is not the most desired option, it seems.
There have been several names attached to the vacant sporting director post, but there have only been a few names that have convinced everyone. For example, Fabio Paratici was a heavy favourite, whilst names like Markus Krösche have appeared infrequently in proceedings.
For Tare, his name has been regularly linked to the post, but there has always seemed to be an issue with his candidacy, as we recently detailed. Unfortunately, this is only continuing to be the case, despite new meetings taking place.
As Marco Conterio writes for Tuttomercatoweb on X, Giorgio Furlani is still ‘not convinced’ by the candidate, with it remaining to be seen if he can get over his issues and offer him the job.
If the problems are too great to ignore, Tony D’Amico is still the preference, despite his refusal of the job so far. However, the Milan CEO remains in contact with Percassi over D’Amico’s situation, which hints at the dream not being dead just yet.
There is a lot left to be decided in the hunt for a new sporting director, indeed, but if Tare is appointed, it feels like it won’t be natural at this point, but rather a case of settling for who is available.
