Arsenal are on the verge of announcing Andrea Berta as their new sporting director and he is set to immediately turn his focus to the summer transfer window. The likes of Nico Williams, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres all still key forward targets, while the Gunners are now said to be in a battle with Real Madrid to secure the signing of Martin Zubimendi. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia could also be on his way to the Emirates in a cut-price deal.

There has been a new twist on the Francisco Trincao to Manchester United front, with Kobbie Mainoo’s Old Trafford future still potentially in real doubt as the club also apparently look at the likes of future superstars Tyler Dibling and Chris Rigg. Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, is said to be a target for Real Madrid, who are preparing a £90m move. Liverpool are still reeling from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s agreement with Real Madrid and are said to be talking to Jeremie Frimpong about becoming his replacement, with positive news from Milos Kerkez amid a potential breakthrough over Mohamed Salah’s contract.

Chelsea may move for Barcelona defender, as well as forwards Sesko or Liam Delap, while Tottenham want Dibling and are dealing with strong Atletico Madrid interest in Cristian Romero. Follow the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Matheus Cunha explains January decision

Matheus Cunha has said he “couldn’t leave” Wolves in January while they were in a relegation fight.

The Brazilian attracted significant interest, with Arsenal believed to be keen admirers, but he has now opened up on the decision to resist leaving Wolves mid-season, while suggesting a move could come this summer.

“I had a lot of offers but I wouldn’t feel well if I had done it,” he told The Observer.

“Some things you can’t control but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.

“Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”

Arsenal confirm Andrea Berta arrival

Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sporting director.

The Italian arrives in north London as the permanent replacement for Edu, who resigned his post in November to take up a new challenge overseeing the growing portfolio of clubs under Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Edu’s assistant Jason Ayto was named as his interim replacement while Arsenal conducted a thorough search for the Brazilian’s full-time successor.

They were linked with a whole host of external names as well as Ayto, including the likes of Dan Ashworth, Roberto Olabe, Thiago Scuro and Tomas Rosicky before Berta emerged as the leading contender for the job earlier in March.

Real Madrid plot Bruno Fernandes move

Manchester United could face a big decision over whether to sell Bruno Fernandes after it emerged the midfielder is a shock transfer target for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are ready to make a £90million move for Fernandes which would give cash-strapped United a major dilemma.

Scouts are said to have been sent by Real Madrid to watch Fernandes as the Spanish giants plot an overhaul of their squad in the summer, having closed in on a deal to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Star, Fernandes has been identified as a top signing who could also be a potential successor to Luka Modric at the Bernabeu.

United manager Ruben Amorim does not want to lose his inspirational captain but United need to raise money and they would have to consider a big offer for him.

Liverpool willing to sell Harvey Elliott this summer

Liverpool appear willing to move on from Harvey Elliott this summer.

The 21-year-old has made almost 150 appearances across all competitions since moving to Anfield from Fulham in 2019 and remains a popular figure among fans, despite having not started a single Premier League game this season.

Elliott’s dramatic late winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie and his assist off the bench for Federico Chiesa in the Carabao Cup final has only increased the clamour among supporters for him to be handed more opportunities under Arne Slot.

However, Sky Sports now claim that Liverpool would accept a “good offer” for the England Under-21 international this summer.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Mantato will sign his first professional deal at United, penning terms for four years following talks with technical director Jason Wilcox and manager Ruben Amorim, who is said to be a big fan of the player.

Mantato was among the youngsters that trained with United’s first team at Carrington on Friday, along with Jim Thwaites, Godwill Kukonki and Reece Munro.

Chelsea weigh up Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko moves

Chelsea may move for either Liam Delap or Benjamin Sesko this summer, reports claim.

The Blues are among a number of top Premier League clubs set to be on the lookout for at least one new striker when the summer transfer market opens early in June.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Ipswich frontman Delap and RB Leipzig’s Sesko - a long-term target for Arsenal - are both potential options.

However, he adds at this stage that it is currently unclear as to who they will opt to pursue.

A new winger may also reportedly be on the way to Stamford Bridge this summer, depending on what happens with Mykhailo Mudryk.
