FLW's West Brom fan pundit has identified Wildsmith and Swift as two Albion players who need to step their game up.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
West Brom are clinging on to a play-off place in the Championship with just eight games of the season to go.
Tony Mowbray's side are only keeping seventh-placed Bristol City at bay thanks to their superior goal difference, despite being undefeated in their last six league outings.
However, Albion have won just two of those games, with four 1-1 draws, the most recent of which coming at The Hawthorns to relegation-threatened Hull City, hamstringing them from cementing themselves in the top six.
We asked our West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess: 'Is there a player you think we need to see improvement from at West Brom right now? If so, who and why?'
Burgess said: "It's probably between two players who Tony Mowbray has shown a lot of faith in recently; that's Joe Wildsmith in goal and John Swift in midfield.
"Wildsmith, he did well against Hull on Saturday, but in previous matches he has made a few mistakes. Particularly against Burnley, where he spilled a relatively easy shot that he could have held onto, into the direction of Zian Flemming for him to tap home.
"In January, after we lost Alex Palmer, we did recall Josh Griffiths who was playing really well at Bristol Rovers. Because of that, a lot of Albion fans thought it would have been him who would take Palmer's spot in goal, in order to keep progressing and developing further.
"But, it's Joe Wildsmith that Mowbray has put his faith in, and so far, he's been a bit 50/50."
Having enjoyed two strong seasons as a West Brom player, experienced attacking midfielder John Swift hasn't been as productive for the Baggies so far in what is his third campaign at The Hawthorns.
"In regards to Swift, he's another player who Mowbray's put his trust in alongside Alex Mowatt in midfield at times, and he's been a bit up and down," Burgess continued.
"He did score that great free-kick against Burnley, but I think it's a case of trying to fit round pegs into square holes.
"Against Hull on Saturday, he ended up playing 4-4-2 with Isaac Price at right-back due to Darnell Furlong's suspension, Jayson Molumby on the right wing, and then Swift in the middle with Mowatt.
"So it did seem a bit of a case for trying to force John Swift into the team wherever it was possible for Mowbray, and we didn't really reap the rewards from that.
"So, they are my two picks for players who we need to see an improvement from."
