A fresh update has emerged concerning Manchester City and their reported pending summer transfer interest in Nottingham Forest right-back, Ola Aina.

The Premier League champions are being widely tipped to recruit in the right-back position during the upcoming summer transfer window, both owing to the expected departure of Kyle Walker, and bad form and lack of consistency in the role.

The England international is currently spending the final months of the ongoing campaign on-loan at AC Milan in Serie A, having exited the Etihad Stadium on a six-month deal in the January market.

Officials at the San Siro have an option to buy Walker permanently at the end of the season on a low-cost agreement shaken upon with Manchester City, with various reports pointing towards a €5 million fee.

As such, work is now underway at the Etihad Stadium to identify a direct replacement for the veteran England international, despite the usage of Rico Lewis, Matheus Nunes, and Abdukodir Khusanov in the position at various stages of the ongoing season.

One name to have emerged in recent weeks is that of Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, who has been offered a new contract by the City Ground club but is yet to put pen to paper, as such raising serious doubts about his future.

But according to the information of AllNigeriaSoccer, while Manchester City are monitoring the situation of the Chelsea academy product, transfer decision makers at the Etihad Stadium have not yet firmed up their interest with any concrete offer for Ola Aina.

Elsewhere and Turkish giants Galatasaray have also been mentioned as a possible destination in various reports concerning the future of the 28-year-old defender, but similarly no concrete developments have emerged yet.

Aside from the Nottingham Forest star, who has been instrumental to Nuno Espirito Santo’s success so far this season in pursuit of a top-four finish and UEFA Champions League place, options for Manchester City at right-back are few and far between.

The reigning Premier League champions are believed to be holding a watching brief and element of interest in Netherlands international Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen, knowing the player well from his time with the Manchester City academy.

There is also believed to be interest in Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso, and the Italian’s versatility across defence and further forward on the pitch could prove to be a major attraction to squad decision makers at Manchester City.
