Ahead of a trip to Manchester City on Wednesday evening, Van Nistelrooy issued an important squad update surrounding a key defensive figure; Ricardo Pereira.

Out injured since coming off against Chelsea in the wake of first recovering from a hamstring problem, the Portuguese full-back may pass fit in time to make the matchday squad at the Etihad Stadium.

“We obviously had Ricardo Pereira out for the Man United game, but he’s doing really well," he said.

"Hopefully, we can get him on the training pitch today and tomorrow and see if he’s ready for Wednesday.”

Having lost six league fixtures on the spin, the Foxes boss remained adamant that his players are eager to find results as the season nears the final two months.

"They want to perform. We are doing everything we can to get the maximum out of our squad."

"Our training is sharp. Of course, we have to do better but the appetite to show ourselves and produce is there."

After their away day at City, Leicester then faces off against Newcastle, Brighton, and then Liverpool across a period that could seal their fate.
