First-half highlights:

5th minute: Werder go close early on as Burke forces Bernardo into giving up possession, before picking out Ducksch at the edge of the box. The striker has plenty of time to take sight of goal, but his effort goes wide.

10th minute: A close call for the Green-Whites, as Friedl's backpass catches Zetterer unawares. Fortunately, the ball rolls just wide of the post and out of play.

23rd minute: Lynen gives up a free kick on the edge of the box. Wittek steps up to take it and only narrowly sends it over the bar.

32nd minute: Ducksch looks to place a free kick in at the near post, but Bernardo is able to clear it out for a corner.

Second-half highlights:

55th minute: Stage wins possession and gets the ball up front to Ducksch. The striker drives towards the box before slotting it past Horn and into the back of the net. The goal is later disallowed by the VAR as a result of Ducksch being narrowly offside.

70th minute: Another excellent chance to take the lead for the hosts. Bernardo is unable to clear Agu's cross, as the ball ends up with an unmarked Njinmah in front of goal. His shot from point-blank range is parried by Horn, however.

83rd minute: Werder take the lead! Njinmah delivers a cross into the box that's turned in by Weiser. The lineman's flag initially goes up, but the goal is allowed to stand after VAR review.

86th minute: A rough foul from Masovic sees several players come together as emotions run high. The referee brandishes the yellow card three times, with Sissoko sent off after receiving his second caution of the afternoon.

90th minute +9: Full time! SV Werder win 1-0 at home against VfL Bochum. Next up, Ole Werner's side will host FC St. Pauli on Sunday, 27th April (17:30 CEST).

Summary: SV Werder struggled to settle into the game in the opening stages, as Bochum managed to assume control over proceedings. Neither side managed to create more than a handful of chances in the opening half, as they headed into the break still deadlocked. The Green-Whites fought hard after the change of ends to earn all three points courtesy of Weiser's match-winning strike.
