Bayern have lost just twice all season, whilst taking vital points off Leverkusen in their two draws. It's going to take a spectacular collapse for them to let Bayer back in between now and the end of the season. Nevertheless, Vincent Kompany's side still have to face European hopefuls in the form of Leipzig and Gladbach - teams who have caused them problems in recent years.

Victory at home to the Mainz on Matchday 31 - Thomas Müller's 500th Bundesliga appearance - wasn't enough to clinch the title yet as Leverkusen took care of business at home to Augsburg. Still eight points clear of the Werkself but now with just three matches left to play, Bayern would stitch up the title with a win in their Saturday trip to Leipzig, irrespective of how Leverkusen fare on Sunday.

A draw in Leipzig would likely also be enough, although not mathematical confirmation, given Bayern will have a sizeable advantage in terms of goal difference (+61 compared to Leverkusen's +31) in the event the teams end up tied on points.

Regardless of how Bayern get on in Leipzig, Leverkusen simply must win all three of their remaining games against teams, who also still have plenty to play for. Even if the Bavarians lose on Saturday, if Xabi Alonso's men then fail to win in Freiburg, the race will be all over.

It would take an incredible and unprecedented turn of events for Leverkusen to claim the title at this stage, but last term's domestic double-winners have already shown they know how to rewrite the history books...
