Barcelona still interested in €70m-rated winger on Man United, Chelsea radars | OneFootball

Last summer, Barcelona went after the signing of Nico Williams very ardently but ended up missing out on the Spanish international, who opted to continue at Athletic Club.

Interest in the 22-year-old attacker seemed to have died down even though Barça are still on the lookout for a new winger in the market.

Instead, names such as Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Rafael Leao of AC Milan have emerged as the subject of transfer interest for the Blaugrana.

Nico Williams still on Barcelona’s shortlist

However, now, according to SPORT, Barcelona still retain an interest in Nico Williams and are thinking about a move for him but have not made any concrete offers.

Nico, who has nine goals and seven assists from 37 games in all competitions this season, continues to be on the Catalans’ radars, although not as a major priority as he was before.

There is no doubt Nico is admired at Barça. He has a good relationship with key players in the squad, and his affordable release clause makes him an appealing option. However, the club have not prioritised his signing.

No shortage of interest

Apart from Barcelona, Nico is also attracting interest from the Premier League where Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the Spanish international.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also said to be admirers of the 22-year-old while Ligue 1 champions PSG also like the young winger.

Bayern Munich were also looking at Nico as a possible target but have now decided to end their pursuit of the Athletic Club ace, instead focusing their efforts towards signing Florian Wirtz.

Barcelona, for their part, are preparing for another challenging summer financially with limited flexibility. As such, they want to avoid another drawn-out transfer saga that could damage the club’s image, which is why Nico is not seen as a priority.
