Chelsea sent one of their top scouts to Colombia to watch talented teenager Neyser Villarreal in action this week according to reports.
The Blues have shifted their transfer focus under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership to signing the best young talent from around the world.
Chelsea announced two signings from Sporting Lisbon earlier this month with 17-year-old Geovany Quenda set to join in 2026, whilst 20-year-old Dario Essugo will arrive this summer.
Despite frustration from fans Chelsea’s youth policy shows no signs of slowing down, with the South American market of real interest to the Blues.
Chelsea have generational talent Estevao Willian arriving this summer along with Kendry Paez, whilst Andrey Santos will return from his successful loan at Strasbourg.

However, it looks like the Blues have got their eye on another South American talent as they continue to scour the region for the best players.
The Sun have reported Chelsea sent their top scout from Brazil to Colombia to watch 19-year-old winger Villarreal in action, with the teenager not shy of controversy.
The report adds the teenager was Colombia’s stand out player at the recent South American under-20 championships, and he finished as top scorer with eight goals, whilst he also registered four assists.
The Sun state Porto, Inter Miami and Watford are also interested in the winger, who’s contract with Colombian club Millonarios is set to expire at the end of December this year.

Why Chelsea would feel the need to bring yet another young winger into the squad is unclear, but if they were to make a move there’s also a possibility Villarreal could be a Strasbourg signing, with a view to having a future at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are likely to have their eye on plenty more young talents this summer, but it’s absolutely vital they address the issues in the first team instead of constantly looking at the long term.
