Olympique de Marseille fans took aim at former Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood, asking him to leave alongside Luis Henrique.

Before the March international break, Greenwood received a warning from Roberto De Zerbi over his fitness. Dissatisfied with his work ethic, the Marseille boss also dropped the Englishman from his starting line-up against RC Lens and Paris Saint-Germain.

In March, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the pair were involved in a heated exchange during training.

However, in recent weeks, De Zerbi restored his most prolific attacker to the starting line-up, and he responded with a goal against Toulouse FC. But that didn’t stop Marseille fans from targeting the 24-year-old and his teammate Henrique on Saturday.

Before the clash against Montpellier, home fans unfurled a banner at the Orange Vélodrome that read: “Greenwood, Henrique, get a move on!”

Both Greenwood and Henrique have been the subjects of several reports that have raised questions over their long term futures in the south of France.

The Brazilian left-winger has even attracted interest from United. It has been recently reported that the Red Devils have “started to do some groundwork on a potential deal.”

Meanwhile, Greenwood responded to the damning banner in style, scoring a brace in his side’s 5-1 win. His first goal came from the penalty spot in the 8th minute.

Just after the hour mark, he added another to his tally by receiving the ball in the box before smashing a low strike past Benjamin Lecomte to put the game to bed.

Despite facing plenty of criticism, Greenwood has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s best forwards this term. Only Ousmane Dembele (21) has netted more goals than the United academy product (18).

As such, if Marseille do decide to part ways with their £26.6million signing, there would be many clubs willing to make a move. Recently, The Peoples Person covered a report claiming three Saudi Pro League sides are very keen on signing Greenwood.

Any movement in the summer should alert the hierarchy at United as they inserted a considerable sell-on clause into the deal, which is thought to be around 50 per cent.
