It is no secret that striker Jonathan David is set to leave Lille on a free transfer this summer.

The Canadian will be available when his contract with the Ligue 1 side expires at the end of June.

And there have been quite a few clubs linked with David’s signature.

According to Sky Sport Switzerland, teams in the Premier League are lukewarm. The tax regulations around the English top flight make it more straightforward to invest in big transfer fees than high wages.

Therefore, it looks as though David will move to a league other than the Premier League.

According to Sky Sport Switzerland, Jonathan David is aiming for wages of €9 million gross per season.

In addition, the Canadian international wants a €15 million sign-on bonus. And another €10 million in agent fees.

That would mean that, in spite of David being a free transfer, a deal would not be without costs.

Nevertheless, Sky Switzerland report, Inter Milan are considering a move.

The Nerazzurri have become specialists in free transfer deals. Even if it means that there are some other costs associated with the signing.

Meanwhile, Inter’s Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus are also targeting David. He is one of their main targets to replace Dusan Vlahovic should the former Fiorentina striker leave.

Sky Switzerland report that David’s hope is for a move to a top club in La Liga.

However, the broadcaster note, there currently appears to be more interest in the Canadian’s signature coming from Serie A.
