Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be allowed to leave on loan in January despite only joining the club six months ago according to reports.

Chelsea paid Leicester £30m for the midfielder as he followed Enzo Maresca in swapping the King Power for Stamford Bridge, but things haven’t worked out so far.

The Blues are expected to be quiet in January with business set to focus on outgoings with the club keen to move on the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell, whilst Cesare Casadei is attracting interest.

Dewsbury-Hall could be allowed to leave Chelsea on loan

Dewsbury-Hall was Leicester’s star man as they won the Championship title last season and he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists.

However, the step-up to Chelsea has been a big one and the midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, with his game time very limited.

Dewsbury-Hall is yet to start to a Premier League game this season, and has made five league appearances totalling just 55 minutes, which has seen him linked with a move away.

He’s failed to make the match day squad in nine of Chelsea’s 18 league games, although he’s fared better in the Conference League where he’s started five of the six games and scored twice.

Maresca has insisted he’s happy with Dewsbury-Hall, but admitted he couldn’t guarantee the midfielder wouldn’t leave in January.

Mail Sport have reported Dewsbury-Hall could be allowed to leave on loan in January in order to get regular game time, but you would imagine the decision would be down to the player himself and whether he backs himself to make a breakthrough in the second half of the season.

Whilst Dewsbury-Hall is a good player and seems like a nice guy to have around the place, the reality is it didn’t make much sense at all for Chelsea to sign him, let alone spend £30m.

He’s well down the pecking order and with the Conference League not returning until March he’s facing the prospect of playing very little football over the next few months, and it will be interesting to see what Chelsea would do if an offer came in.
