The IFFHS, or The International Federation of Football History & Statistics, is an organisation which aims to recognise and reward the standout performers in world football based on performance data.

Each year, an XI of players is in turn put together, based on the leading stars in a host of noteworthy statistical categories.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, the latest edition of the Team of the Year was made official across the IFFHS’ website and social media platforms.

Leading the way when it comes to inclusions are Real Madrid, who, including the now-retired Toni Kroos, boast no fewer than five representatives.

Turning attentions towards Barcelona, and Hansi Flick’s squad is represented by just a solitary name, in the form of attacking sensation Lamine Yamal.

Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad, meanwhile, is recognised courtesy of the insertion of all of Lamine, Dani Carvajal, and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.
