Almere City director John Bes hints at experienced incoming staff to work alongside Hedwiges Maduro | OneFootball

General manager and director of Almere City, John Bes, has announced that Hedwiges Maduro’s management team could be updated soon. The current relegation candidates in the Eredivisie are down in 17th place with six points and have of course, earned a fair amount of criticism in recent weeks.

Appearing as a guest on the ‘Ach, laat ze maar lullen’ (‘Oh well, let them talk’) podcast, Bes spoke about his reasoning for bringing in an experienced head:

“It is mainly based on the matches and the position on the rankings. And honestly, that is also the output and that is ultimately what you do it for, but within the club there is more insight into what is going on.”

Despite the fact that the director seemingly lacked ‘urgency’ during matches against the likes of Quick Boys (L3-0) and RKC Waalwijk (L2-0), according to him there is still sufficient support for Maduro and his staff.

“As long as the connection is there with the players and staff, you know that there is potential. We are mainly in ‘help mode’.”

With the latter, Bes refers to possible staff reinforcement at the Flevoland club. According to him, the international period was used to speak to key players and other stakeholders. In addition, ‘the necessary buttons were turned’ to be able to realise a turnaround in the short term.

“We know that we have chosen a relatively young trainer and staff, but that is also a staff that has been successful.

“There is clearly a need for the input of more experience. We have been working on that in the past few days and have spoken to relevant names about it. In the course of the week, we will announce what we are going to do.”

Almere City’s next game is away at 10th-placed Go Ahead Eagles.
