Paris Saint-Germain have no shortage of midfield talent, but size remains a clear weakness. Fabian Ruiz is the tallest of the bunch at 6-foot-2 (1.89m), and there’s a noticeable drop-off after him.

Senny Mayulu brings a bit of length at 6 feet (1.83m), but outside of the 18-year-old, PSG don’t have many taller options in the middle of the park. That could lead the club to prioritize adding a more physically imposing midfielder this summer—someone who fits into Luis Enrique’s system without compromising their fluid, possession-heavy style.

Another possibility is adding a seasoned veteran to bring balance to a young core that’s been built over the last few windows.

With that in mind, Arsenal insider Charles Watts recently reported that the Gunners haven’t opened contract talks with Thomas Partey, whose deal expires this summer. Barcelona, Juventus, and PSG are all reportedly monitoring the situation closely.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Arsenal are in talks with Partey over a new contract. Partey is happy in London and open to staying.

According to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Arsenal still value Thomas Partey, but the financial demands of a new deal could make it tough to extend his contract.

The club are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, and right now, committing to a high-priced deal for Partey—who’s no longer a nailed-on starter—doesn’t appear to be a priority.

Partey is reportedly open to a return to LaLiga, with Barcelona seen as his preferred destination. His current contract expires at the end of the season, and Mundo Deportivo reports that the Spanish side have shown interest.

Barcelona view Partey as a potential bargain given his contract situation, but pulling off a deal won’t be straightforward.
