Vitor Roque arrived at Barcelona last year, signing from Athletico Paranaense, in a deal worth €30 million plus another€31 million in add-ons.

However, things did not work out according to plans for the 19-year-old at Barça as he barely featured under Xavi Hernandez in the second half of the last season.

After failing to convince new manager Hansi Flick as well, Roque left Barcelona to join Real Betis on loan in the summer with the option to extend for a second season.

At the end of each season, the Andalusian club have the option to make the transfer permanent for €25 million for 80% of the economic rights, with Barcelona retaining the remaining 20%.

Palmeiras come up with an offer

However, now, according to SPORT, Vitor Roque has received a very attractive offer from his home country. Palmeiras, one of the most financially stable clubs in Brazil, are looking for a ‘number 9’ and have their sights on the Barcelona loanee.

Indeed, Palmeiras have made an offer of €27 million for 80% of Tigrinho’s economic rights.

This is €2 million more than Betis’ stipulated amount, meaning, from an accounting perspective, if the sale goes through at this value, Barcelona would make a profit of €5 million.

For the time being, the Brazilian outfit’s pursuit has been halted, as the club recently finalised the departure of young Vitor Reis, receiving nearly €40 million from Manchester City for the transfer.

Palmeiras have not given up on Roque though and will continue their efforts until the end of this month. If they do not succeed now, they will make another attempt for Tigrinho starting July 1.
